How to create space in your day, even with a back to back agenda!

Because of my passion for the BIG questions in life, I’d love to bring you into a journey in the physics of the universe and to demonstrate how time and space work.

And because I’m not a Physicist, i’ll spare you of 5’ of my superficial and vague talking.

As I just demonstrated, I’ve just created space for something I value instead of filling your space (=time, =area in your brain) with dispensable items (things to do, know, learn, practise not aligned with my values).

As you might have already guessed, the concept of space I’m referring to is the free region in your mind where YOU choose as opposed to the occupied slots of “things to do”.

My ambition today is to invite you to challenge the concept of your own space and time.

Life events can at time prove to be suffocating, taking away the ability to move and act with calm and forethought. It can be done in a different way. Even when things get tough and time runs quickly, we always have the power to slow it down and create space for something valuable to occur. Something we choose to have instead of chasing it or even worst feeling deprived of any power on it.

Mario Martinez, a clinical neuropsychologist, has shown in his reserches that cultural beliefs affect health and longevity. In other words, a conscious decision on how to perceive yourself in the world influence not only your perception but literally how much time we have in life!

One of his examples relate to menopause, a very non-avoidable event in women's life.

Women who associate shame to it, suffer more and have more physical inflammations, reducing the quality of their life and even shrinking the overall time.

Women able to engage this phase of their life as a second spring, feel less pain and value themselves and their wisdom as a gift to those around them. This mindset reduces pain, allow better quality of living and extend their life time.

Neuroscience is proving over and over agin the benefits of having a positive and conscious outlook on life.

How does this translate in the day to day practise?

  • - Be conscious that eventually you are the only person who is in charge of your own decisions, even on how to engage with inevitable events.
  • - Invest time in slowing down and look at things from a different perspective (try to walk in the streets at a much lower pace then usual and observe what happens).
  • - Appreciate what you are doing and who you are doing it with instead of giving all for granted.
  • - Regularly review your decisions and check if they are aligned with your goals.
  • - Ask yourself: who says so?...including yourself in the possible answers.
  • - Include healthy habits in your day (meditation, physical exercise, contact with nature, healthy diet, appropriate sleeping routine, disconnection time from electronics, engagement with people, gratitude exercise, ME time,...).

Once you value the relationship with yourself and others over the "To do list", the doing list will shrink its space and go faster because of your motivation and connection with its meaning.

Give it a go and I'd love to read about your observations, if you are happy to share them with me by clicking on the following link:
